Welcome to the Veterinary College at Hebbal, Bengaluru, which was established on 25th July 1958 and shifted to its current campus on 6th January 1962. The primary objective of the college is to promote education, research, and extension activities in the field of veterinary and animal sciences, with a commitment to meeting the needs of the livestock sector and the community.

The college offers several academic programs. The undergraduate program, Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.), admits approximately 88 students per year. At the postgraduate level, the college offers the Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) across about 17 disciplines with a total intake of around 100 to 120 students annually. It also provides Ph.D. programs in nearly 14 disciplines with an annual intake ranging from 14 to 20 students.

Candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as core subjects.

They must have secured the minimum qualifying marks as prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) and KVAFSU

Admission is primarily based on the NEET-UG score

The applicant must be an Indian citizen and should meet the domicile requirements of Karnataka (for state quota seats).

The minimum age should be 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

 

M.V.Sc – Master of Veterinary Science (120 Seats)

Eligibility

Candidates must hold a B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree from a recognized veterinary university or institution.

They must have secured a minimum OGPA or percentage as prescribed by KVAFSU (usually not less than 6.00/10  or 60% marks).

Admission is based on performance in the KVAFSU Postgraduate Entrance Examination.

Candidates must meet the residency or domicile criteria for state quota seats in Karnataka, if applicable.

They should have completed compulsory internship training before the date of admission.

Admission Process

B.V.Sc & A.H.

To apply for the B.V.Sc & A.H. program, candidates must have passed 10+2 (PUC) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, securing at least 50% marks (40% for reserved categories). Admission is conducted through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) managed by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. Based on KCET merit ranks, candidates are invited for counselling where they can choose their preferred veterinary college and course. They must fulfill Karnataka domicile requirements for state quota seats and be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the admission year. Final admission is granted after seat allotment, document verification, and fee payment.

M.V.Sc

For M.V.Sc admission, candidates must hold a recognized B.V.Sc & A.H. degree with a minimum OGPA of 6.00 out of 10 (5.5 for reserved categories). Admission is based on performance in the KVAFSU Postgraduate Entrance Test. Some seats may also consider ICAR AIEEA-PG scores if applicable. Selection is based on entrance exam scores, past academic performance, and any applicable weightage such as JRF qualification or achievements. Eligible candidates must attend the KVAFSU counselling process to select their discipline, complete document verification, and pay the prescribed fees to confirm admission.

B.V.Sc & A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry)

For government quota students under the general category or reserved categories with annual income above ₹2.5 lakh, the annual tuition fee is ₹70,470. Students belonging to SC/ST or Category‑1 with family income up to ₹2.5 lakh per year are eligible for a reduced annual fee of ₹12,525. Over the five-and-a-half-year duration of the course, the total fee for general category students comes to approximately ₹3.14 to ₹3.49 lakh.

M.V.Sc (Master of Veterinary Science)

The total tuition fee for the two-year M.V.Sc program is ₹97,380. Additionally, a one-time hostel-related fee of ₹8,390 is applicable, bringing the overall estimated cost for the course to about ₹1.06 lakh.

This fee structure applies primarily to Karnataka state quota seats. Additional costs may apply for materials, examinations, or special facilities, as per university norms.
