INTRODUCTION

Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU) was established on 29 August 2016 under the Bihar Animal Sciences University Act, 2016. It was set up to strengthen and coordinate education, research, and extension in the fields of veterinary, animal, dairy, and fisheries sciences in the state.

The core objectives of BASU are to enhance livestock productivity, improve the socio-economic status of farmers, promote rural development, ensure food security, and contribute to animal and public health through quality education, cutting-edge research, and field outreach.

The university is located in Patna, the capital city of Bihar. It enjoys good connectivity and accessibility from major transport points. The university offers a range of academic programs including B.V.Sc. & A.H. with an annual intake of 85 students, M.V.Sc. with around 55 seats across various disciplines, and Ph.D. programs admitting approximately 15 students annually. It also offers B.Tech. in Dairy Technology with 45 seats and several diploma and certificate courses in animal husbandry and veterinary sciences.

  • The candidate should have a minimum qualification of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognized Indian Board / University.

Postgraduate:

(I) M.V.Sc.

  • A candidate should possess at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.0/10.0 in Bachelor’s Degree and in the case of SC/ST, 55% marks in aggregate or 5.5/10.0 OGPA.

 

 

Ph D Programme:

Ph D. in Veterinary Science

  • A candidate should possess at least 70% marks in aggregate or 7.0/10.0 in (Master’s Degree Programme) in concern discipline and in case of SC/ST, 65% marks in aggregate or 6.5/10.00 OGPA
