Kamdhenu University was established in the year 2009 under the Kamdhenu University Act, 2009 (Gujarat Act No. 9 of 2009). It was set up by the Government of Gujarat to serve as a specialized institution focusing on Veterinary, Animal, Dairy, and Fisheries Sciences.

The university's primary objective is to impart quality education, promote advanced research, and extend practical knowledge and technologies in veterinary, animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries disciplines to stakeholders across the state and country.

Duration

The Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) course is of 5½ years duration, which includes 4 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship.

Eligibility

Candidates must have passed Class 12 (Science stream) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English, securing at least 50% aggregate marks (47.5% for reserved categories). NEET-UG qualification is required for admission from the 2025–26 academic session.

Admission is based on merit, calculated using 60% weightage from PCB theory marks and 40% from GUJCET scores. Applications are submitted online through the university’s admission portal. 85% of seats are filled through state counselling and 15% are reserved under the VCI quota.
