Krantisinh Nana Patil College of Veterinary Science, Shirwal was established in December 1988 under Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. It was later brought under the jurisdiction of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU), Nagpur, in the year 2000. The college is named after the renowned freedom fighter Krantisinh Nana Patil, who played a significant role in the establishment of a parallel government against British rule in the Satara district during the freedom movement.
